ARTIST'S WEBSITE 
Over
the years of study, research and practice, Marjolyn has developed
her own, recognisable manner of painting, reminiscent to some of the
impressionism. She notes:
"...
We live in a world of disposability. We go through our lives bombarded
by media imagery that reflects our world in a fleeting forgettable
manner. This body of work is a reaction to this environment. Using
the city as a point of departure, I explore how to stop the quick
moving existence... These works exist and their goal is to mark a
moment of time. Through the use of texture, color, and contrasts of
light, I want to stop the viewer in their tracks and register the
narrative."
Marjolyn
studied painting in New York Studio Program at Parsons School
of Art and Design (New York City) and has a degree in Fine Arts
from Ringling School of Art and Design (Florida). She also
holds a B.A.Honors degree in Mass Communications from Carleton
University (Ottawa, Canada). During her professional career as
a fine artist

She
has exhibited widely in the United States (New York City, Washington
D.C., Florida, etc.); In Canada she extensively shows in Toronto galleries
•
She
has been granted numerous professional awards – including
several "Best of Show" – both at the US
and Canadian exhibitions
•
Today
her works contribute in many corporate collections (IBM, Merrill
Lynch, CN Rail Ltd., Rogers Communications, to name a few)
as well as private collections throughout Europe and North America
Presently
Marjolyn works from her studio in the Distillery District
– a famous art destination of Toronto. As an educator, she also
offers classes and workshops introducing the impressionistic style.
For
this show, Chancery Art Gallery has selected mostly urban
themes of European flavour with some romantic and nostalgic touch.
